Pre-Marriage Preparation
It is Archdiocesan Policy that parishes receive at least three months’ notice of Intent of Marriage. Church and reception venues normally need to be booked even further in advance. It is advisable to let us know as early as possible, as the Church may not always be available.
There are several forms of marriage preparation available and couples discuss with the Parish Priest the style most relevant to their needs.
Government and Church paperwork is completed at the first interview. In subsequent interviews the couple discusses issues relevant to the marriage. A Marriage Preparation Course covering important relationship issues such as Conflict Resolution, Listening, and other skills, is available through Centacare.
The wedding ceremony, music, flowers etc are also discussed at the meetings, and a practice ceremony is usually held one evening during the week before the wedding.
Photographs and videos are permitted as long as they are used with decorum and the photographers do not obstruct those participating in the ceremony.
